Almost all the women I communicate with in everyday life experience anxiety about their appearance. This vague anxiety often results in the fear of aging and losing attractiveness. This, in turn, entails the fear of loneliness and lack of love.
Women's worries and fears are supported by the modern slimming industry and numerous cosmetics producers who promise women "eternal youth" in exchange for considerable financial investments. For those who do not have so much funds, the Internet is full of folk remedies. Both those who expose themselves to pain in beauty parlours and those who use handmade methods are haunted by imposed ideas of perfection.
In my series, I shoot the ways to achieve conventional beauty and the objects used to carry out these transformations at home and in offices of numerous specialists. I oppose these images to photographs which find no place in glossy magazines about female beauty.
